In what many are calling a “cold war in plain sight,” Nayanthara and Dhanush were seen attending producer Aakash Baskaran’s wedding on Thursday but made it a point to steer clear of each other. The actors, both seated in the front row, kept their interactions limited to their own entourages, making their icy silence impossible to miss.
A video shared by Nayanthara’s security team on Instagram shows the two stars sitting on opposite ends of the aisle, carefully avoiding any interaction. The wedding, attended by industry heavyweights, saw Nayanthara gracing the occasion in an elegant pink saree, accompanied by her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, who wore a crisp white veshti. Dhanush, meanwhile, stuck to the traditional white veshti look as well.

While both actors mingled with other guests, including exchanging pleasantries with actor Sivakarthikeyan, their refusal to acknowledge each other became a talking point. A photograph circulating online shows Sivakarthikeyan warmly greeting Nayanthara and Vignesh, with Dhanush noticeably absent from the frame.

The tension comes on the heels of a very public spat. Nayanthara recently took to social media with an open letter accusing Dhanush of sending her a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore. The issue stems from a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan that was used in Nayanthara’s documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale.
According to Nayanthara, her team had been seeking Dhanush’s approval for over two years to include excerpts from the film, which was also produced by him. After receiving no response, they decided to use the brief clip, only to be met with the legal notice.
The film holds special significance for Nayanthara, as it was during its making that she met her now-husband, Vignesh Shivan. The couple’s relationship blossomed on set, adding an emotional layer to the ongoing feud over the clip.
