Apple is reportedly set to launch the fourth-generation iPhone SE on March 24. As per a report by MacRumours, Barclays analyst Tom O’Malley suggests the new iPhone SE 4 may feature an Apple-designed 5G modem and is expected to debut towards the end of Q1 2025. Previous leaks have also pointed to a possible release in the first half of next year.

The fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to resemble the base iPhone 14 in design, with rumored features including a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a newer A-series chip, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, 8GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence support, and the Apple-designed 5G modem.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to include Apple Intelligence features including advanced Siri capabilities, improved predictive text, and more intelligent photo-editing functions.
As per the report, the key feature of the iPhone SE could be Apple’s own 5G modem, a project the company has been developing since 2018. This marks a significant shift, as Apple has traditionally depended on Qualcomm for modems. While it’s uncertain whether the in-house modem will offer notable improvements like faster speeds or enhanced connectivity, it represents a major step toward Apple’s self-reliance.

Notably, Apple sued Qualcomm in 2017 over anticompetitive practices and unpaid royalties, settling the case in 2019. That same year, Apple acquired most of Intel’s smartphone modem business, gaining a portfolio of cellular patents. In about four months, the results of this acquisition may finally be seen.
In terms of pricing, it is rumored that the iPhone SE 4 may see a price increase compared to the SE 3, which launched at Rs 43,900 in India. The new model is expected to be priced starting at Rs 48,000, possibly reaching up to Rs 50,000—a noticeable hike, but still within a single price range for potential buyers.
The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature a larger 3,279mAh battery, compared to the 2,018mAh battery in its predecessor. Leaks also suggest that the upcoming budget-friendly iPhone could come with a Type-C USB port.
